Robert E Fuller - Shop

Born in 1972 Robert Fuller spent his childhood in a beautiful part of Yorkshire called Great Givendale which is only a stones throw from where he resides today. 

His interest in Wildlife came at a young age as he roamed his fathers farmland and surrounding area. Robert would show his younger brother nesting sites, badgers setts, tracks from otters and Roe rings. He would bring home orphaned birds & animals and his garden was full of hunches, runs, coops and various bird aviaries. 

Roberts talent as a young artist was noticed by his mother at a young age, although he did not get on to well with his school work as he was dyslexic his creative ability was outstanding. By the age of 14 he took on extra art tuition where Nature & wildlife was his main theme. He progressed to the local college and then by the age of 19 his confidence as an Artist was growing by the day, he then attended Carmarthen Collage in Wales to study Wildlife illustration. 

 

He soon learned that using a good camera was far more productive than doing a basic field sketch to work off, he still this day uses this method. He graduated as Student of the year in 1994. He then had a summer job at Chester Zoo where he sketched animals in his spare time. 

His first exhibition was in at the Talents Fine Arts in Malton in 1992, it was a sell out. Within a year he was exhibiting in Paris at the La Musee de la Chasse et de la Nature, along side renowned wildlife artist Rodger Mcphail.

Today he works from his Gallery in North Yorkshire where he has as many as 7,000 visitors a year. I have the pleasure of often visiting Robert and his staff as we are are based not that far away. Its a place well worth visiting, it has a lovely energy and quite breath taking, you can see from the surrounding area just how inevitable it is where he got his inspiration to become one the worlds leading wildlife artists.
