This late summer into autumn scene features a male Blackbird perched on an old fence post, a bramble with its bounty of fruit  creeps at his feet.

Although the Blackbirds diet consists mainly of insects, larvae and earthworms, they are very partial to eating berries especially as the year progresses. The male Blackbird starts to sing a little later than his counterpart the Song thrush in late February / early March. Both birds fill the early spring air with their magical song and the British Garden would not be complete without them.
