Foxes mate in the winter months from December to February. Some foxes will share a sett with badgers and rabbits where there is a mutual respect between the fox and badger. The gestation period for foxes is around 52 days, a typical litter is anywhere from three to five cubs. 

These adorable fox cubs are born between March & April, they are born blind and deaf and stay in the sett for the month of their lives. They then hesitantly emerge, very weary and alert to their new surroundings. The artist has captured this moment beautifully.
